Bunker Tips
Setbacks in the Sand?
You are certainly not alone if you struggle to show brilliance from the beach. It's safe to say the majority of amateurs don't like being faced with a shot from the sand. You are probably tired of hearing how the pros love to hit from the sand and that it's a simple shot for them to execute. The truth of the matter is your struggles from the sand are probably two fold: 1) you are mentally psyching yourself out 2) you've never been taught proper set up and execution of the shot. Understanding what actually happens when your clubhead enters the sand and how to make it enter where you want it to is really all it takes. Once you are properly enlightened, sand really isn't all that big of a deal. Check out some of the the videos below to get started improving your bunker play today.

Driving Tips
Driving Disasters?
Until very recently it was believed that it was the short game that set professional golfers aside from amateur golfers. We all grew up being told "drive for show, putt for dough." While that still holds true in that if you can't chip and putt you won't be able to score, modern technology and stat tracking has enlightened us to how important a good long drive off the tee actually is if you want to play good golf. In fact, it's what separates the champions on tour versus those that are not bringing home a win. Good driving requires the proper set up, a solid swing and the ability to create speed. The most difficult in my opinion is the 3rd element. I would rather have my students learn to swing hard first and then learn control second because the first is more difficult to teach. Check out the videos below for useful tips on improving your tee shots.

Putting Tips
Pitiful Putting?
Ever wonder why you can't putt? Or are you under the delusion that you actually are a good putter when you really aren't? Good putting in my opinion is averaging 31 putts per round (18 holes) and yes, this is for the average amateur. How close do you come to that on every round? What I all too often hear when I interview students for lessons is "My putting is really good, It's the best part of my game." Looking at the student's stats however, almost always tells a different story. The good news is this is the easiest part of your game to improve and you can do it quickly. With a proper set up, good technique and various effective drills, just a half hour a day on the greens can knock a huge amount of strokes off your score and make you look and feel like a tour pro. Check out the videos below to get started on perfecting your putting.

Chipping Tips
Chili Dipping your Chip Shots?
It goes without saying that if you want to make putts, you have to be good at chipping the ball. When I study my student's stats and see high putts, the first place I look is to their chipping. If they are missing greens and have a lot of first putts outside of say 8 feet, I know they need work with their short game. In reality, chipping is one of the most simple shots in golf so it's an area where I like my students to spend a lot of time becoming comfortable. With a good set up and few solid tips, you can develop a couple of "go to" chip shots with a simple motion that you can rely on when under pressure. Check out the videos below for some useful tips on improving your chip shots around the green.

Pitching Tips
Imperfect Pitches?
Pitching is one area of the game that brings a lot of players a lot of grief. It seems so simple; just a short little delicate swing to flop the ball nicely up onto the green. Getting the ball up into the air and moving forward is pretty simple for most players. The difficulty lies in trying to control the distance. Hitting a pitch shot to the far back of the green and leaving yourself a 40 foot putt doesn't help your situation much. It doesn't need to be that difficult though. Knowing the simple steps to take to get set up correctly and the various ways to control your distance can go a long way to lowering your scores. Check out the videos below for tips on how to improve your pitching game.

Fairway Woods & Hybrid Tips
Fretting Those Fairway Woods?
While fairway woods and hybrids are made to assist a player in hitting the ball far and getting it up into the air, they can be very difficult for some players to control. For hybrids, it's really just a matter of finding the hybrid brand that works best for you and getting used to them. You will soon fall in love with them. Fairway woods on the other hand, especially 3 woods, just aren't always that easy to hit, especially off the deck. Set up positions and alignments are crucial to hitting these clubs well as are balance and sequence. For tips on how to gain more success with your fairway woods and hybrids check out the videos below.

Iron Tips
Irritating Irons?
Your only 130 yards from the green. You go through your pre shot routine, line up, make what you think is a smooth swing and flat top it. Or maybe you shank it or chunk it. Either way you missed the green - and with a short iron. Could anything be more irritating? Whether you have a pitching wedge in your hand or a 7 iron, you should fully expect to get somewhere on the green. There is a host of swing errors that can stand in your way though, from reverse pivoting, to coming over the top, to swaying. The good news is all of it can be fixed by understanding what's going wrong in your motion and practicing corrective drills. Check out the videos below for help with your iron play.

Pre-Swing Fundamentals Tips
Fundamentally Funky?
Your pre swing fundamentals are the blue prints around which you build a solid golf swing. If your fundamentals are funky, then your swing will be so also. Pre swing fundamentals encompass grip, stance, posture, ball position and alignment. If any part starts off of what's considered neutral then you will have a non neutral golf swing with compensations that are trying to make up for a poor starting position. For instance, knowing the difference between a strong grip and a weak grip and how it affects your swing can help you understand why your ball goes where it goes. For tips on how to develop solid pre-swing fundamentals check out the videos below.

Practice Tips
Poor Practice?
Practice makes perfect right? Well only if it is quality practice. Every instructor will tell you it's "quality over quantity." Putting in the time is one thing, but utilizing your time the most efficient way is what's not only going to keep you sane, but also lead you to a better game. Whether you are talking putting, iron shots, mental game or driving, each and every part of your game needs attention and there are ways to practice that are far better than the practice routine most amateurs employ. For tips on how how to practice and improve your game in a more efficient way, check out the videos below.
